LED Mirrors

An LED mirror is a mirror with built-in LED lighting that lights your face and often replaces a separate fitting above the basin. The category holds 13 Zambelis LED mirrors rated 7 to 40 W, with 870 to 2390 lm of luminous flux, 3000K, 4000K or adjustable (CCT) light and IP44 or IP54 protection. Most have a touch switch. They are designed for bathrooms, cloakrooms and hallways.

How to choose an LED mirror

A bathroom LED mirror hangs close to water and is used every day, so three things matter most: the IP rating, the quality of the light and the controls.

IP rating and bathroom zone

A bathroom is divided into zones by distance from the water source. The LED mirrors in this category are rated IP44 or IP54, so they normally suit zone 2 and beyond, where water can only splash. A mirror above a basin usually falls in zone 2 or outside the zones. Right next to a bath or shower, in zone 1, the requirements are stricter. The final decision on position and wiring rests with your electrician, who will assess your bathroom layout.

Bathroom zoneMinimum IP ratingWhere it is
Zone 0IP67inside the bath or shower tray
Zone 1IP65 (IPX5)above the bath or shower tray
Zone 2IP44around the bath or shower

Colour temperature and output

The LED mirrors give 3000K warm white or 4000K neutral white light, and one model offers adjustable colour temperature (CCT). Neutral 4000K renders skin tones more accurately, which helps when shaving or applying make-up, while 3000K feels softer in the evening. Luminous flux runs from 870 to 2390 lm at 7 to 40 W. A higher-output mirror can light a small bathroom on its own, while a lower-output one supports the ceiling light.

Touch switch

Most mirrors in this category have a touch switch on the glass: a touch turns the light on, off or dims it. That removes the need for a separate wall switch, but the power cable has to be run to the mirror position in advance. A few models have no dimming and simply switch on. If you plan a shelf or cabinet nearby, leave clear space around the sensor so it stays easy to reach.

Size, frame and colour

A mirror is usually chosen at least as wide as the basin or slightly wider, with the top edge high enough for the tallest member of the household to see their face. Frames are mostly aluminium, some with acrylic or metal details. Colours are gold, black and white. Match the frame colour to the tap, handles and other bathroom accessories so the room looks consistent.

Frequently asked questions

What IP rating does a bathroom LED mirror need?

An LED mirror above a basin, which is usually in zone 2 or outside the zones, needs IP44. Closer to water, in zone 1 above a bath or shower, IP65 is required, and in zone 0 IP67. The LED mirrors in this category are rated IP44 or IP54, so they suit places where water can only splash.

Which colour temperature is best for a bathroom mirror?

Bathroom mirrors most often use 4000K or 3000K light. Neutral 4000K renders skin tones more accurately, which helps when shaving or doing make-up, while warm 3000K feels cosier. This category includes LED mirrors in both colours and one model with adjustable colour temperature (CCT).

How is an LED mirror switched on?

Most LED mirrors in this category have a touch switch on the glass: a touch turns the light on, off or dims it. Such a mirror needs no separate wall switch. A few models have no dimming, and the control type is shown on the product page.

How many lumens should a bathroom mirror light have?

LED mirrors in this category deliver 870 to 2390 lm. A lower-output mirror is enough to light your face when the bathroom also has a ceiling light. A higher-output mirror can be the main light in a small bathroom. Work out the total requirement with the lighting calculator.

What size LED mirror should go above a basin?

An LED mirror above a basin is usually at least as wide as the basin or slightly wider, so it looks in proportion. Set the height so everyone in the household can see their face. Exact dimensions are on the product page, and leave room so a shelf does not block the touch switch.
