Magnetic Track
Magnetic track systems are low-voltage track collections in which luminaires attach to the track by magnet, while the tracks, luminaires, connectors and power supply are chosen together as one set. The category holds 327 items across 13 families – 48 V and 24 V ranges, MAGNETIC EASY and TAMPA – from Zambelis and TK Lighting. Stated power runs from 1.5 to 250 W and luminous flux from 80 to 3708 lm, all with integrated LED sources. They suit living rooms, kitchens, hallways and shops where luminaires may need to move later without new wiring.

How to choose a magnetic track system
A 48 V or a 24 V family
The voltage is part of every family name. 48 V has the most families: 3MM, 5MM, Ultra Slim 15MM, linear, Space Frame, curved rectangle, circles and curves, and MAGNETIC EASY. The 24 V group covers 6MM, mini 11MM, flexible curved and Plug & Play. Pick the family first by track shape and where it will run on the ceiling or wall, then choose luminaires made for it. A luminaire from another family will not fit your track, even at the same voltage.
Sizing the power supply
Every magnetic system needs a low-voltage power supply whose voltage matches the family. Sizing it is straightforward: add up the wattage of every luminaire planned for the track and allow about 20 % headroom. For example, luminaires totalling 100 W need a supply of at least 120 W. Stated power in this category ranges from 1.5 to 250 W, so it is worth doing the sum before you order. An undersized supply runs at its limit, whereas headroom lets you add another luminaire later.
Luminous flux and colour temperature
Luminous flux here runs from 80 to 3708 lm: small spotlights are for accents, long linear luminaires for general lighting. The most common colour temperature is 3000 K (warm white), with 2700 K, 4000 K (neutral white), 6500 K (cool white) and colour-adjustable CCT also available. Living rooms and bedrooms usually get warm light, kitchen worktops and studies neutral light. Keep to one colour temperature on a single track so the light looks even.
Dimming and finish
The dimming method is stated in the product descriptions: mostly DALI, less often TRIAC (phase-cut) and PUSH, with some non-dimmable luminaires too. The power supply must support the same method as the luminaires, or brightness cannot be changed. Where an IP rating is listed it is IP20, so these systems belong in dry rooms. Finishes are black, white, gold, copper and grey, and the main material is aluminium, alongside acrylic and polycarbonate.
| Voltage | Families in the catalogue | Power supply |
|---|---|---|
| 48 V | 3MM, 5MM, Ultra Slim 15MM, linear, Space Frame, curved rectangle, circles and curves, MAGNETIC EASY | 48 V supply, load + ~20 % |
| 24 V | 6MM, mini 11MM, flexible curved, Plug & Play | 24 V supply, load + ~20 % |
Related categories
The largest family is the 48V Linear Magnetic System; for 24 V, start with the 24V Magnetic System 6MM, and for a TK Lighting set see MAGNETIC EASY 48V. For a 230 V option, browse track systems. You can draw up a track plan in the configurator.
What a complete system needs
- a rail or a base — as long as the line
- luminaires or modules — as much light as the room needs
- joints where the line turns or branches
- a feed, plus a driver for the low-voltage systems
- end caps at the ends
Frequently asked questions
Does a magnetic track system need a power supply?
Yes, every 48 V or 24 V magnetic system needs a low-voltage power supply whose voltage matches the family. It is sized from the total wattage of the luminaires on the track plus about 20 % headroom, so 150 W of luminaires calls for at least a 180 W supply.
What is the difference between 48 V and 24 V magnetic track?
The supply voltage and the choice of families differ. The 48 V group includes the 3MM, 5MM, Ultra Slim 15MM, linear, Space Frame, curved and MAGNETIC EASY families, while 24 V covers 6MM, mini 11MM, flexible curved and Plug & Play. The power supply must match the track voltage, and parts from different families are not interchangeable.
Can I mix luminaires from different magnetic systems on one track?
No. The track, luminaires, connectors and power supply must all belong to one family, for example all from the 48V linear system. Parts from different manufacturers or systems do not fit one another, even when the voltage is the same.
Can a magnetic track system be installed in a bathroom?
Products in this category that carry an IP rating are listed as IP20, which means dry rooms only. Bathroom zone 1 normally requires IP65 (IPX5) and zone 2 IP44, so a magnetic track is best kept out of the bathroom.
Can magnetic track luminaires be dimmed?
Yes, when the product description lists a dimming method – most often DALI, less often TRIAC or PUSH. The power supply and controller must use the same method as the luminaires, because different methods cannot be combined.
Can a magnetic track be curved or formed into a circle?
Curved runs have their own families: the 48V Magnetic Curved Rectangle, 48V Circles & Curved Magnetic and the 24V Flexible Curved System. How tracks in the other families are joined is described on their product pages.
